Mobile Mechanic Canterbury Prices: What You Pay and Why

Our mobile mechanic Canterbury prices are simple: labour is £30-£50 per hour, depending on the job and its difficulty, and parts are extra. We agree the price with you on WhatsApp before any work starts. The final bill depends on your car, the job and the parts it needs.

How our pricing works

Every job has two parts to its cost.

Labour. This is our time, charged at £30-£50 per hour. Simpler, quicker jobs sit at the lower end. Harder jobs, where access is tight or more skill is needed, sit higher. For example, if a job takes two hours at £40 per hour, labour is £80, plus any parts.

Parts. These are the filters, pads, belts or other parts your car needs. Parts prices vary a lot between makes and models, and between brands of part. They are added on top of labour.

We do not quote fixed prices for jobs without knowing the car. Two cars needing the “same” job can take very different amounts of time.

What changes the bill

Several things make a job quicker or slower, and so cheaper or dearer.

  • The car itself. On some engines a part is easy to reach. On others, other parts must come off first.
  • The job. An oil and filter change takes far less time than a timing belt and water pump.
  • Condition. Seized bolts, corrosion or old repairs can add time.
  • Parts choice. Genuine manufacturer parts and other brands can be priced differently.
  • Diagnosis. If the cause of a fault is not clear, finding it takes time before any repair.

If you want to understand what drives the cost of routine work, our guide to how much a car service costs in the UK goes into more detail.

How a WhatsApp quote works

Pricing on WhatsApp keeps everything in writing. Here is how it works.

  1. Send us the details. Your car’s make, model and year, the mileage, and what is wrong or what you need doing. Photos of a warning light or a worn part help.
  2. We ask questions if needed. Sometimes we need a little more information to judge the job.
  3. We agree the price. We agree the price with you on WhatsApp before we start. Parts are included in that conversation.
  4. We come to you. We do the work at your home or workplace.

For faults where the cause is not obvious, the first step is diagnosis. We come out, find the cause, then tell you what the car needs before any repair goes ahead.

Your rights on price

It helps to know what the law and consumer advice say about prices.

Citizens Advice explains that a quote is a promise to do the work at an agreed price, while an estimate is the trader’s best guess. If you agreed an amount before the work, you will have to pay the full bill. With only an estimate, a trader can charge more within reason.

Citizens Advice also says that if you asked for a specific job only, you should not have to pay for extra work you did not agree. That is a good reason to agree any extra work before it is done.

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, a trader must perform a service with reasonable care and skill. If no price was fixed, you must pay a reasonable price, and no more. Agreeing a price on WhatsApp first gives both sides a clear record.

Things that do not add to the price

Because we come to you, you do not need to pay for a lift, a taxi or time off work waiting at a garage. If you live in the city centre or a street with permit parking, have a look at our tips on where a mobile mechanic can work in Canterbury before booking.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a mobile mechanic cost in Canterbury?
Our labour is £30-£50 per hour, plus parts. The total depends on the car and the job, and we agree it on WhatsApp first.

Are parts included in the hourly rate?
No. Parts are extra and depend on your car and the parts chosen.

Can you give me a price without seeing the car?
For many jobs, yes, if you send the make, model, year and details of the job. For unclear faults, diagnosis comes first.
