Mobile Mechanic for Villages Near Canterbury

If you live in a village near Canterbury, a mobile mechanic comes to your driveway, so you do not have to drive into town, wait at a garage or find a lift home. We cover Bridge, Littlebourne, Barham and Sturry, plus nearby villages such as Adisham, Wingham and Ash. Servicing, brakes, filters and fault finding can all be done outside your house.

Why mobile servicing suits village drivers

A garage booking is simple in town. In a village it often means two trips, a lift or a bus, and a day planned around the car. A mobile mechanic removes most of that.

  • No garage run. The car stays on your driveway while the work is done.
  • No lift needed. Nobody has to drop you off or pick you up.
  • You can carry on with your day. Work from home, look after the kids or get on with jobs while we work.
  • A car you should not drive can be fixed where it is. If your brakes are grinding or a serious warning light is on, driving it to a garage is the wrong move. We can come to the car instead.

If you are not sure whether your road or driveway is suitable, send us a photo on WhatsApp and we will tell you.

What we can do on your driveway

These are the jobs we can do at your home:

  • interim and full servicing, including engine oil and oil filter changes
  • air filters, cabin (pollen) filters and fuel filters for petrol and diesel cars
  • brake pads and brake discs
  • timing belts (cambelts) and water pumps
  • warning lights and fault finding
  • pre-MOT checks
  • classic and vintage car servicing and recommissioning

Some work needs a proper workshop. Classic engine rebuilds are done in a Kent workshop. We are not an MOT test centre, so the MOT itself still has to be done at a test station. GOV.UK says you can have the MOT up to a month (minus a day) before it runs out and keep the same renewal date. That leaves time for a pre-MOT check at home first, so any problems are fixed before you make the trip.

Country lanes and what they do to your car

Village driving is different from town driving. The Highway Code (rule 154) warns that country roads can have sharp bends, hidden junctions, slow farm vehicles and mud on the road surface. All of these add their own kind of wear.

Mud. The Highway Code says lights, indicators, reflectors and number plates must be kept clean and clear. After a muddy run, wipe them before you set off again, especially in winter.

Deep water. The Highway Code (rule 121) says brakes may be less effective after driving through deep water. Test them gently at the first safe opportunity. If they are not fully effective, apply light pressure while driving slowly to help dry them.

Potholes. The RAC links pothole damage with damaged shock absorbers, broken suspension springs and distorted wheels. If the car pulls, knocks or feels different after a hard hit, get it checked. Our guide to pothole damage in Kent explains how to report a pothole and what to look for.

Rural driving can also mean more of your miles count as hard use. Our Kent car maintenance schedule explains how to adjust servicing for lanes, mud and short trips. Always check your handbook or service book for your car’s intervals.

Simple checks between visits

Living a drive away from a garage makes small checks more worthwhile. The Highway Code recommends:

  • checking tyre pressures weekly, when the tyres are cold
  • checking fluid levels at least weekly
  • making sure tread depth is at least 1.6 mm across the central three-quarters of the tyre, the legal minimum for cars

If a warning light comes on while driving, the Highway Code says to stop and investigate. Never ignore a brake warning light, signs of overheating or the oil pressure light. Stop driving and get it checked.

How we can help

We are a mobile mechanic based in Aylesham, and the villages around Canterbury are part of our regular area. You can read more about our mobile mechanic service in Canterbury, or see the full list of areas we cover.

Labour is £30-£50 per hour depending on the job and how difficult it is. Parts are extra. We agree the price with you on WhatsApp before any work starts, so there are no surprises.

If you have a fault we do not repair, such as a suspension or steering problem after a pothole, we can still come out, diagnose the cause and tell you what it needs.
